Marriage and Boundaries

From Zondervan Publishing House
Only when a husband and wife know and respect each other's needs, choices, and freedom can they give themselves freely and lovingly to one another. Boundaries in Marriage gives the couples in your group the tools they need. By applying the powerful biblical and relational principles presented in this ZondervanGroupware, couples can make a good marriage better and even save one that's headed for disaster. This leader's guide gives you the clear, step-by-step instructions you need to maximize interaction, support, and insights within your group. Most of the preparation has been done for you -- just follow the easy-to-use lesson plan, complete with helpful tips. Because this book includes the full text of the participant's guide, it's the only guidebook you need to track page-for-page with your group.

Two lives becoming one: That’s the marriage ideal. But maybe you’ve discovered that it’s easier said than done. How do you solve problems? How do you establish healthy communication? How do you work out conflict and deal with the struggle of differing needs? In the process of knitting two souls together, it’s easy to tear the fabric.

Books for recovering from infidelity

After the Affair: Healing
the Pain and Rebuilding
Trust When a Partner Has
Been Unfaithful
From the Publisher
Infidelity is often the deathblow to a relationship. But it can also be a wake-up call, challenging couples to confront the issues that led to the affair and build a healthier, more intimate relationship than before. As a clinical psychologist who has been treating distressed couples for twenty-one years, Dr. Janis Abrahms Spring has found that couples can survive infidelity, provided that both partners are willing to look honestly at themselves and at each other and acquire the skills they need to help themselves through such a shattering crisis. After the Affair is the first book that explains exactly how to do this, offering a series of original and proven strategies that enable both partners to heal from infidelity without viewing each other simply as victims or victimizers. For those who are going through the pain, confusion, and anger of an infidelity, After the Affair can help you cope with the raging emotions, make a thoughtful decision about your future, and, if you choose to recommit, reclaim a life together.

Some Reader Reviews
reviewer, July 16, 2001,
This book told me things I didnt even know This is one of the best awareness/help books I have ever read. It helped my husband and I work things out by understanding what may have went wrong and why I betrayed our vows. It taught us how to overcome that and prove just how strong our love really is.

A Must to read after an affair This was a great book to read, which I started to read while my wife of 21 years decided to leave me for a man she had been writing to for three months. I don't know what I would have done without reading this book.
From a nationally renowned therapist, family mediator, and expert on extramarital affairs, this supportive guide offers couples clear advice on how to work through the emotional and practical fallout of infidelity. The author presents the five types of affairs that occur, and why. She then helps readers face the affair, let go of obsession, prevent violence, work on the marriage, work on themselves, get outside help when needed, rebuild their lives in the even the marriage ends, and talk with children. Affairs is a healing guide, giving readers the knowledge and information they need to deal with difficult issues, make peace with themselves and each other, and move on.

Web Sites that will help your marriage to recover from an affair

I found these site very helpful when I experienced the pain of an unfaithful spouse in my own marriage. While the pain at the beginning seems extreme and excrutiating, I came to realize over time that an affair does not have to be the end of a marriage. Restoration can take place through God. It may seem impossible at the beginning to restore a marriage after such a damaging act, but it can happen. Sometimes we can't effect the outcome of the marriage if the other spouse is still having the affair. If that is the case, it is still possible to learn about yourself and your emotions.
